Staunton River High School, located in Bedford county, Virginia, is home to a very active and diverse band program. Headed up by director Chris Caldwell, the bands are continually on the move. Last year, the bands lost Mr. Wilkes to a middle school in Salem. We all wish him the best of luck with his new job. Best of luck to Mr. Caldwell with his new job, too.

Staunton River has a history of strong band programs, and in the last few years, the program has really blossomed. The Marching Golden Eagles have been growing at blazing speed, and 1998 saw the addition of 2 new bands, the Jazz Band and Indoor Drumline, both of which had award winning first and second years. The Concert band has split into Symphonic and Concert bands in 1998 to help distribute all the people.
