SRHS Band HomeWelcome to the page that will tell you all that you ever wanted to know about Staunton River's Symphonic and Concert Bands. In September of 1998, there was something different about SRHS's band program---there were two bands instead of one. What used to be one band was split into a Symphonic and a Concert band because of the incredible growth of the Staunton River Band program. The Symphonic band consists of mostly juniors and seniors, while the concert band is made up of mostly sophomores and freshmen. In 1998, both bands performed at the same concerts, but practiced separately and with different music. Both bands enjoyed great success while on Spring Trip at Myrtle Beach, SC at the Fiesta-Val competition in 1999. They also performed at two Christmas concerts and at the SRHS Fine Arts Festival in the Spring. In the spring of 2000, both bands went on Spring Trip to Virginia Beach. SRHS is proud of both bands, as they did very well at the competition. Practice has begun for Spring Trip already, with the (delayed) Christmas concert now behind the Eagles. Also, the band performed at Horatio Alger Day at SRHS on November 10, 2000. |
